SIOIRI: Breathtaking Blue Skies and Endless Ocean Views!

I’d like to share a wonderful spot in Wakamatsu-ku, Kitakyushu City, that I visited with Elmo during a weekend drive. It all started when my wife found it on Google Maps. “The photos on the official site are stunning!” she said, so we invited my mother-in-law along and headed out in our car.

The moment we arrived, I knew we had hit the jackpot. Here is my report on what makes this place so charming!

An Overwhelming Sense of Freedom! A Grand Panorama of Sky and Sea

The first thing that surprised me upon arrival was the size of the parking lot. It’s so massive that you don’t even have to think about where to park, and the way the view opens up the second you step out of the car is incredible.

The sky is just there, and the sea is there! “Expansive” is the only word for it. The weather was perfect on the day we went, with a deep, piercingly blue sky. The breeze felt so good—it’s the kind of place where all your daily stress just melts away.

A “Harbor Stroll” with Elmo on the Beautiful Waterfront Promenade

The greatest draw of “SIOIRI” is undoubtedly its seaside location. There is a wide, long, and beautifully maintained promenade running right along the water.

It has a great harbor atmosphere, and Elmo and I took our time strolling along. The ground is paved and very easy to walk on, which is a huge plus for dog owners.

The plaza is also incredibly spacious, and Elmo seemed to have an extra spring in his step. With nothing to block the view, just walking while gazing at the horizon made me realize how glad I was that we made the drive. It was a truly luxurious time.

Soaking in the Relaxing Atmosphere and Local Facilities

The grounds are lined with inviting buildings, including the Fisherman’s Wharf, restaurants, and souvenir shops. There are even some stylish buildings that look like wedding venues, giving the whole area a vibrant and sophisticated feel.

Since Elmo was with me, I stayed outside to enjoy the walk and the architectural atmosphere while my wife and mother-in-law went to check out the inside of the Fisherman’s Wharf. Even from the outside, you can feel the energy of the place—it feels like a spot packed with Wakamatsu’s modern charm.

Elmo’s Record-Breaking Hydration!

The weather was so good that day that the sunlight was actually quite intense. For Elmo, who walks much closer to the ground than we do, it was even hotter. His body temperature seemed to rise after just a short walk, so when we took a break…

Just look at him go! I was honestly shocked by how much water he was gulping down. It was a hot day, but I think that just shows how much energy he put into enjoying the walk. Seeing Elmo like this might be my favorite memory from this trip.

A New Staple for Kitakyushu and Wakamatsu Drives!

Fisherman’s Wharf “SIOIRI” is a place where the scenery is the undisputed star. Rather than a place for a fancy terrace meal, it’s a spot that perfectly suits just wandering aimlessly with your dog against the backdrop of the vast sky and sea.

  • The parking lot is incredibly huge!
  • The sky and sea offer an amazing sense of freedom!
  • The promenade is beautiful and perfect for walks!

If you are looking for a driving route with your dog in Fukuoka or the Kitakyushu area, I highly recommend paying a visit. A walk under that blue sky is truly the best!
